Saidia
The charming seaside resort town of Saidia on the Mediterranean coast of Morocco is close to Oujda and the Algerian border.
Without a doubt, its close proximity to Spain makes it’s a perfect destination for the Spanish who have long discovered this getaway, as it continues to welcome guests from all over the world to its pristine waters and sandy shores.
With its fine sand across its beach coasts and an ideal climate, it is one of the most gorgeous seaside resorts in the Northern Moroccan region, earning for itself the name, “Pearl of the Moroccan Mediterranean.” It is not uncommon to see guests mingling with locals over a coffee break at a seaside café here, and a little later swimming into the Mediterranean.
A former French protectorate from Arab sultanate rule in the ancient times, the city was transformed under French rule into a seaside port and resort town.
The area is known for its paradise playground facilities, foremost in the country. It is no surprise then that there are over 700 hectares of resorts for world-class and budget- hotels, escapist seaside villas, rounds on spacious and challenging golf-courses as well as a marina to take advantage of its coastal location, overseen by the Spanish investment group Fedesa Immobilliaria. In fact, Saidia is home to one of the Moroccan king’s latest initiative for real estate development as part of his vision for the country in 2010.
The scintillating country of Morocco and its mix of East and West brings its flavor to the Saidia shores. Come August, there is a dazzling traditional folk music festival hosted by the city. Guests are invited to sample local Moroccan music with the beats and whistles of the desert in the horizon.
